When Amish Eyes are Smiling

March 12-13, 2020

Tour Number R45074

2 Days - 1 Night - 2 Meals - 1 Show

The theme of this tour, “When Amish Eyes are Smiling” is a perfect way to experience a mix of Amish culture and Irish music and traditions.  Come along and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with us in a fun and interesting way!  Our Amish and Irish experience will include fascinating sightseeing, delicious food and fun-filled entertainment!

Day 1:    We’ll depart this morning for our drive into the “Heart of Ohio Amish Country”. This afternoon, meet a local guide for the history and highlights of the World’s Largest Amish Community. Our first stop will be at Lydia Troyer’s Homemade Candies, where you can dip your own mint truffles. These treats are especially popular during St. Patrick’s Day. We will also include a visit to Lamp and Light Candle for a demonstration on how candles are carved. We will check into the Wallhouse Hotel, nestled in the picturesque backdrop of Walnut Creek. The Wallhouse is upscale, modern with a crisp, refreshing decor and features a kitchenette. Tonight we will include a traditional St. Paddy’s Day feast all made by the local Amish cooks followed by a fun new show entitled “When Amish Eyes are Smiling”.  You’re guaranteed to laugh through 2 hours of musical comedy and fun.   Be sure to wear your best green attire for this Amish/Irish fun! D

Day 2:    After breakfast our local guide will lead us to Behalt, the Amish and Mennonite Heritage Center for the mural tour. The cyclorama will introduce us to their heritage from 1525 to the present day. This is only one of four cycloramas in the United States, made by one artist, from original research and conception to charcoal sketches and final oils-on-canvas. We will also stop at Wendell August Forge, the largest and oldest forge, where you will enjoy a workshop tour and create your own work of art! Arrive at Walnut Creek Cheese for shopping, taste testing, and lunch on your own. Each person will receive a special dessert! Our final stop of the day will be Broad Run Cheese House and New Swiss Heritage Winery. Enjoy Irish Sangria and other recipes! We bid farewell to our guide and depart for home. We hope that you will long remember the smiling eyes of our Amish friends in Ohio!   B
