Day 1:   Depart early morning for a delightful drive through the southern states. Our overnight stay will be south of Memphis.

Day 2:   After breakfast we continue south overnighting near Dallas. We will enjoy a dinner together this evening. B, D

Day 3:   Breakfast is included at the hotel before we continue to our warm and sunny destination of San Antonio! Enroute we will stop in Austin, the capitol of Texas. We will tour the LBJ Presidential Library. LBJ was a force of personality, a master of power and the political process and had a boundless appetite for social reform.  Here you will gain an understanding of the 36th President as you learn about his early years, family life and more.  Lady Bird Johnson was bold and worked tirelessly for conservation and the environment. We will arrive in San Antonio later this afternoon and check into our hotel for our three-night stay, The Drury Inn on the Riverwalk.  The Riverwalk is right outside your door…enjoy your evening at leisure. B

Day 4:   An included hot breakfast gets you started for your day of touring.  We will meet our local guide to learn about this amazing city. Alamo, on the east side of the Alamo Plaza is the most famous spot in Texas where 189 defenders fell on March 6, 1836, after repeated attacks by Mexican General Santa Anna’s army.  The chapel, one of the most photographed facades in the nation, and the Long Barracks are all that remain of the original fort. Long Barracks Museum and Library are near the chapel. The museum contains relics and mementos from the Republic of Texas and offers narration on the fall of the Alamo. Next stop, Market Square, browse through 32 shops at “El Mercado,” an area patterned after an authentic Mexican market.  Dinner and entertainment is included at the authentic Mexican La Margarita Restaurant located in Market Square.  Return to the hotel this evening. B, D

Day 5:   Breakfast is included at the hotel before departing for a visit to Mission San Jose, which was founded in 1720 and became the largest and best known of the Texas Missions. Visitors in 1777 referred to the structure as the “Queen of the Missions.”  The carvings on the church are notable features. The famous “Rose Window’ is considered one of the finest pieces of Spanish Colonial ornamentation in the country. We will also visit the King William Historic District. Afterward we will visit the River Walk in the heart of downtown, the pride of the city. Lush green foliage lines the banks of this peaceful, historic river.  Cobblestone walkways lead you to the river-level restaurants and shops.  Dinner will be enjoyed on a floating barge with music as we wind along the Riverwalk. B, D

Day 6:   Another hot breakfast at the hotel is included. We begin our journey home with fond memories of a great trip. Overnight this evening in Hope, AR. Dinner will be on your own. B

Day 7:   Breakfast is included at the hotel. Hope is the Boyhood Home of President William Jefferson Clinton and is on the National Register of Historic Places. We will visit this historic site before continuing our journey to Dickson, Tennessee for our overnight stay. B, D

Day 8:   Breakfast is included at the hotel before we visit Johnny Cash’s Storyteller’s Museum and Hideaway Farm. Located west of Nashville, this was the place Johnny Cash used to escape from public life.  This is a must stop for anyone interested in knowing more about the man behind the country music icon, as well as the region’s rich history.  Tour and lunch will be enjoyed here before heading toward home.  Plan to arrive this evening, so glad we said “Si” to San Antonio!  B, L
