Day 1: We’ll travel north this morning to begin a tour that takes us back in time. We will enjoy lunch on our own and then the first stop on our nostalgic journey… Greenfield Village. Entering Greenfield Village is like stepping into an 80-acre time machine. It takes you back to the sights, sounds and sensations of America’s past. There are 83 authentic, historic structures, from Noah Webster’s home, where he wrote the first American dictionary, to Thomas Edison’s Menlo Park laboratory, to the courthouse where Abraham Lincoln practiced law. Greenfield Village is a celebration of people – people whose unbridled optimism came to define modern day America. Dinner is included this evening at one of Dearborn’s delightful restaurants. We will check into our hotel for a two-night stay. D
Day 2: After our included breakfast we depart for the Henry Ford Museum. This uniquely American museum highlights our nation’s growth between 1800 and 1950 when the inventions of a new age transformed pastoral America into a dynamic industrial society. It began as a simple yet bold idea to document the genius of ordinary people by recognizing and preserving the objects that they used during their everyday lives. It grew into the ultimate place to explore what Americans past, and present have imagined and invented – a remarkable destination that brings American ideas and innovations to life. This afternoon we will include a visit to the Rouge Factory for a journey into the factory where automobile manufacturing, as we know, came of age, and where the technology of tomorrow is on display today. Later this afternoon we will tour the famous Edsel and Eleanor Ford Estate. Dinner will be included together this evening. B, D
Day 3: Breakfast is included before we check out of our hotel and depart for our return trip home. First we will meet our knowledgeable step-on-guide and learn about the revitalization of the city of Detroit and all it has to offer. After touring we will board the lovely Detroit Princess Riverboat for a cruise experience that includes a delicious lunch and narrated cruise of the Detroit harbor. We will depart for home and plan to arrive back early evening with wonderful memories and experiences to share with family and friends. B, L
