Chip and Joanna Gaines, stars of the former HGTV series “Fixer Upper,” call Waco home and are owners of the Magnolia Market at the Silos and Silos Baking company. Waco is a charming town with much to see. So don’t miss the bus for this getaway to Waco!
Day 1: Today we will begin our adventure bright and early for our drive south to our first overnight at the Drury Inn in Memphis.
Day 2: After our included breakfast we will venture downtown Memphis to the Peabody Hotel to see the marching of the ducks. The Peabody Ducks are a beloved tradition in Memphis where five North American mallards march through the lobby at 11:00 am. The ducks waddle down a red carpet from their rooftop “Duck Palace” to the lobby fountain. The tradition began in the 1930s as a whimsical idea that grew into a Memphis tradition. We will board our motorcoach after the “March” and continue our journey to Texarkana. Tonight, we will check into our hotel and enjoy an included dinner. B, D
Day 3: This morning we will drive the short distance to Tyler, Texas, the Rose Capital of America! Here we will tour the nation’s largest Rose Garden, spanning 14 acres. The gardens include over 38,000 rose bushes and over 600 different varieties, as well as reflecting pools, walkways and fountains. This afternoon we are on our way to Waco, a wonderfully charming town in Texas! After checking into our hotel for our two-night stay we will enjoy some time in downtown Waco, loaded with boutiques, great local restaurants, and a vibe that can’t be beat. The emphasis is on things you can’t find anywhere else. Enjoy your time with dinner at your leisure. B
Day 4: This morning we will visit the Magnolia Market. Chip and Joanna Gaines, stars of the former HGTV series, “Fixer Upper” call Waco home and are owners of the Magnolia Market at the Silos and its bakery, Silos Baking Co. Chip and Joanna are true visionaries, and roughly every kitchen you pin to your “Home Ideas” board has come from their ideas. We will have time for shopping and browsing and lunch on our own. This afternoon, visit the Dr. Pepper Museum, including sampling some hand-made Dr. Pepper from their old-fashioned soda fountain. After a full day of shopping and sightseeing we will include dinner at a local restaurant before returning to our hotel. B, D
Day 5: This morning we will depart bright and early for our drive to Forrest, Arkansas and our overnight stay. B
Day 6: We’ll set our sights for home, anxious to unwrap our goods and share stories of this great little Fixer Upper Tour! B
