Day 1: We will depart bright and early this morning to begin our exciting tour experience. Today we will travel to Richmond, Virginia where we will check into our hotel for the night.
Day 2: We will depart after breakfast for Norfolk, Virginia. When we arrive, we will visit the Norfolk Botanical Garden. We will tour the Gardens aboard a guided tram which will offer an overview of the Garden and its history while highlighting areas of seasonal interest and current exhibits. A box lunch will be included while we are at the Gardens with time to explore on your own and visit the gift shop. This afternoon we will travel the short distance to the Hampton Roads region where we will check into our hotel, have an opportunity to freshen up, then enjoy an evening of dinner and entertainment. Day 3: Breakfast is included before traveling to Nauticus, a maritime science museum. The museum celebrates the economic, naval and natural power of the sea with exhibits, films and the Hampton Roads Naval Museum. You are also welcome to go aboard the Battleship Wisconsin which is connected to the museum. Explore the main deck and go below to learn what life was like on this great fighting lady. After your visit, enjoy lunch on your own in the area. This afternoon you will visit the Chrysler Museum of Art, one of America’s great fine arts museums which includes the collection of automobile heir and art collector, Walter P. Chrysler, Jr. After you visit, board the Spirit of Norfolk for a buffet dinner buffet, music, and entertainment as you sail along the Elizabeth River. After the cruise, continue to Scope Arena for a performance of the Virginia International Tattoo Show. “Tattoo” refers to a Scottish military last call, when pipes and drums called troops back to post for an evening ceremony. Long regarded as the most patriotic of the world’s great tattoos, the Virginia International Tattoo is a Scottish tradition with American Soul! It features more than 1,000 military and civilian performers from several nations who will share their unique music, dance, culture and pride. Tattoo 250 celebrates America’s 250th Anniversary with stirring tributes to America’s fight for freedom and the service and sacrifice of its military. What a great once-in-a-lifetime experience! B, D
Day 4: Once again, you will enjoy breakfast this morning, then depart for downtown Norfolk where reserved seats have been arranged for the 73rd Annual Parade of Nations. Sponsored by NATO, the parade includes themed floats from each participating country reflecting their culture and heritage. There are also marching bands, antique & classic cars, comic brigades and much more. After the NATO parade, enjoy the NATO Fest activities in Town Point Park featuring booths representing each of the NATO countries, entertainment, activities and food vendors. There will be time for lunch on your own in the area, then continue to MacArthur Memorial – final resting place of five-star general Douglas MacArthur. The memorial features mementos and gifts the famous general received throughout his career, his staff car and a film on his life. This afternoon you can relax at the hotel and freshen up before dinner. B, D
Day 5: Following breakfast, we depart for our drive home. This tour will surely provide you with long-lasting memories of a wonderful experience of Pageantry, Patriotism & Celebration of the 250th Anniversary of our nation! What’s next on your Bucket List? B
