Day 1: We’ll depart early this morning as we travel south on our way to Florida! Today is your time to sit back, relax and meet some new travelers. We’ll overnight this evening in Macon, Georgia.
Day 2: Let’s hit the road after our included breakfast this morning and make our way into sunny Florida! We’ll arrive late afternoon in Port St. Lucie along the Atlantic Coast. We will include a dinner together this evening before calling it a night.
Day 3: Following breakfast, it’s just a short drive to Ft. Lauderdale where we will board the Jungle Queen for a scenic cruise up the intercoastal waterway. See why the city of Ft. Lauderdale is aptly nicknamed the “Venice of America”. After our cruise we set our sights for the spectacular Florida Keys. We arrive in Key Largo where we will spend two nights. The Holiday Inn Key Largo is a wonderful property with lush grounds and a great place to relax and soak in the sun!
Day 4: This morning we travel across the Florida Keys to Key West, noted for its 19th Century gingerbread houses and its Cuban foods and dialects that became a part of the culture when cigar-making was the island’s chief industry. The island of Key West is full of fun and exciting things to do and see. We are including an all-day ticket on the Hop on-Hop off Trolley which covers more than 100 points of interest along with colorful anecdotes and historical narrative along the way. From the Southernmost Point to the quaint streets of Old Town, the Trolley will take you to all the major areas and attractions. Enjoy your day in Key West! We will return to Key Largo later this afternoon.
Day 5: Today we will return to the mainland of Florida, where we follow Highway 41 across a portion of the Everglades. We visit the Miccosukee Indian Village and let a guide take us on a tour through the past, present, and future of their history, culture and lifestyle. See demonstrations and exhibits of woodcarving, patchwork, beadwork, basket weaving and doll making. After our tour we will turn north along the coast to Sarasota. We will check into our hotel for a two night stay. After refreshing at the hotel our dinner will be included at one of the area’s most popular restaurants
Day 6: Today in Sarasota we visit the Ringling residence, a million-dollar Venetian Gothic mansion patterned after the Doge’s Palace in Venice, Italy. The Art Museum is an Italian-style villa created by local craftsmen from shiploads of columns, doorways, roof sculptures and marble collected in Italy by John Ringling. It has one of the best collections of circus wagons, calliopes, costumes, handbills and posters covering the history of the circus from Roman times to the present. With weather permitting we will visit lovely Siesta Key Beach and enjoy an early dinner before returning to our hotel.
Day 7: This morning we will bid farewell as we travel through Florida and visit a local Citrus Store. Early this evening we will arrive in Morrow at the Drury Inn, just in time to enjoy the “Kick-Back” Reception.
Day 8: This morning we will depart for home. We have completed the Florida Circle with lots of fond memories and stories to share with family and friends. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your experience!
