Day 1: We’ll depart this morning, setting our sights for the delightful destination of Pella, Iowa. You may think most Midwestern towns are pretty much alike, but just wait until you see Pella! It’s a community of charm and character. We’ll check into our area hotel this evening for our two night stay. Dinner will be included together allowing us to all get better acquainted. D

Day 2: Today enjoy Tulip Time in Pella – the city comes alive with a parade, garden displays of tulips and other celebrations. The Pella Tulip Festival began in 1935 in celebration of the town’s heritage. This wonderful event features street washing parades, costumed wooden shoe dancers, and wooden shoe carving demonstrations. We will start with a guided tour of the city before we explore on our own. We will have time today to visit the street vendors making delicious treats such as poffertjies which are always served with poedersuiker (powdered sugar) and butter. Yummy! Pella’s celebration brings people from all over the world to view the fabulous display of tulips and exposure to the Dutch culture. We have reserved a grandstand seat for you to enjoy the street performances and the Volks Parade this afternoon. Tonight, we’ll enjoy the Dutch Dinner Show before returning to our hotel. B,D

Day 3: This morning following breakfast at the hotel, we return to the Pella Tulip Festival where we will have time to visit several of Pella’s historic locations like the Scholte House Museum & Gardens. Dominie Scholte promised his wife, Mareah, a beautiful home like the one she left in Holland. He held true to his word and in April, 1848 the house was ready. This historic home sits quietly surrounded by award winning flower gardens. We will also visit the Historical Village and the Vermeer Windmill. Lunch is included before we bid farewell to Pella and depart for Amana, Iowa. The Amana Colonies are a group of settlements of German Pietists in Iowa, comprising seven villages. The colonies as a whole have been listed as a National Historic Landmark since 1965. Our local guide will share the history of the Colonies and we will visit their craft shops, woodworking shops and more. A delicious dinner will be included this evening before checking into our area hotel. B,L,D

Day 4: After our breakfast we will depart for our return trip home. Plan to arrive this evening with souvenirs and memories to share with family and friends about our magical spring getaway! B
