Day 2: Today we will cross the Canadian border and take a cruise through the magnificent waterways of the 1000 Islands National Park area of the St. Lawrence Seaway. After our cruise we will overnight in Kingston, Ontario.
Day 3: After a short drive we meet our local guide for a morning Ottawa Highlights Tour. On the tour we see the Royal Canadian Mint, City Hall, the residences of the Governor General and Prime Minister, and Parliament Hill. Next we tour Rideau Hall which has been the official home and workplace of every Canadian Governor General since the Confederation in 1867. We will overnight in Ottawa with an included dinner enjoyed together this evening.
Day 4: Today we follow the St. Lawrence River to Quebec City, the first French settlement in North America, reminiscent of a medieval European village. This evening is on your own. Enjoy this romantic city on foot or by horse-drawn carriage. You may want to have dinner on your own at a French Bistro inside the walled city of Old Town Quebec. We will overnight in Quebec City for the next two nights.
Day 5: This morning our local guide joins us for a sightseeing tour of Quebec City. Nestled on a historic rampart, Quebec City is antique, medieval and lofty, a place of mellowed stone buildings and weathered cannons, ancient trees and narrow, steeply angled streets. See the Old City, the Place Royale, Plaines of Abraham, the Citadel, and breathtaking Montmorency Falls, which drops 84 meters into the St. Lawrence River. Tour the Basilica of Saint Anne de Beaupre, noted as the oldest pilgrimage site in North America. Adjacent to the church is the Cyclorama, the world’s largest painting, 45 feet high, and 360 feet around. Tonight we will enjoy an included dinner together.
Day 6: Today we turn south toward Quebec’s largest city, Montreal. Upon arrival to the city we have time for shopping and lunch on our own along the cobblestone streets of Vieux Montreal. We meet our local guide this afternoon and view the grand mansions of Mount Royal and the modern downtown area. Our tour will include yet another grand highlight, the Basilica of Notre Dame de Montreal and the site of the 1976 Olympics. After our tour we will visit Montreal Botanical Gardens, known as the world’s most spectacular gardens! This evening we will overnight near Montreal.
Day 7: We will depart this morning after breakfast for our drive to the capital of the province of Ontario, Toronto. The largest city in Ontario, Toronto is perched on the shores of beautiful Lake Ontario. This historic city combines modern innovation with traditional Canadian culture and style. Upon arrival this afternoon we will visit the famous CN Tower, one of Canada’s most recognizable landmarks. The CN Tower had an impressive three-decade reign as the tallest freestanding structure in the world and is still one of the most impressive buildings in its country and a favorite spot for visitors. We will check into our area hotel for our two night stay.
Day 8: This morning we have included a guided tour of Toronto. We will include a visit to Toronto’s City Hall, a unique building complex that is the most famous in Toronto. Toronto’s Chinatown is one of the largest in North America and is located in downtown. A visit to Casa Loma, a century-old Gothic style house, will showcase the history of life in Toronto in the early 1900’s. It is nearly impossible to truly enjoy the majestic city of Toronto without seeing it from the water, so this afternoon we will board a vessel and see the sights of the harbor like the CN Tower as never before! Tonight will include a farewell dinner at one of Toronto’s famous restaurants.
Day 9: After a great journey together we will arrive home early this evening with so many experiences and memories to share with family and friends about our wonderful Canadian Odyssey!
