Join us for a fun-filled getaway to the “Little Switzerland” of Ohio, Sugarcreek.  This quaint Alpine village is known as the gateway to Amish Country for good reason.  Amish families were some of the first to arrive in Sugarcreek, along with Swiss and German families.  The Swiss immigrants brought with them their cheese-making heritage and before long Sugarcreek became known as a Swiss cheese-making hub and downtown took on an Alpine-style appearance.  If you are looking for a summer getaway packed full of great sightseeing, delicious food, fun entertainment and lovely accommodations…look no further.

Day 1     We’ll depart for our drive to Sugarcreek, the Little Switzerland of Ohio.  Upon arrival we will enjoy a delicious, included luncheon before our afternoon of sightseeing.  The streets of Swiss Village in Sugarcreek are dotted with Swiss style architecture and beautiful Swiss murals. Swiss music floats through the air as you appreciate the six murals painted by local artist Tom Miller.  Featured on the cover of the Guinness Book of World Records in 1977, the World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock is located in the center of town.  The clock is over 23 feet tall and 24 feet wide.  Every half-hour, a cuckoo bird pops out and then you hear Swiss polka music playing as the band emerges and a couple dances.  There will be time for shopping and browsing at your leisure and you may wish to visit the Alpine Hills Museum highlighting the German, Swiss and Amish heritage of the village.  Admission is free.  Late afternoon we will check into the Carlisle Inn located in a serene, countryside setting with a view!  L

Day 2     After our included breakfast we will first visit David Warther Carvings & Gift Shop.  David Warther II, a fifth-generation carver of Swiss heritage, is continuing his family’s carving legacy.  The carvings created by David depict the “History of the Ship” from 1st Dynasty Egypt to the present day.  Enjoy the over 75 major pieces in his collection and visit the Gift Shop before we depart.  We will arrive at the Ohio Star Theatre for lunch and a great show where we will experience the story of Neil Diamond’s life through his songs from the 60’s through today.  If you love romance, magical surprises, comedy, and Neil Diamond music, you will love A Neil Diamond Tribute!  After the show we will set our sights for home, anxious to tell our family about this perfect summer getaway!
