The leaves are changing and the air is cooling. Fall is on its way to transform the beautiful mountains into a canvas of rich colors that are seen best…by rail! Join us this season for a fun-filled getaway that includes a scenic train ride, interesting history of the people of Cherokee, great food and much more!
Day 1: We depart this morning for a lovely autumn getaway to one of the prettiest locations in North Carolina, Cherokee. After checking in at our local hotel for the next two-nights, there will be time to browse in the downtown area. Transportation can be provided to Harrah’s Casino Resort for anyone wishing to try their luck.
Day 2: Breakfast is included this morning. We’ll depart for Bryson City and board the Great Smoky Mountain Railway for the Tuckasegee River Excursion. You are in for a relaxing ride through quiet countryside on your way to small town life in western North Carolina. This four-hour excursion travels 32 miles roundtrip to Dillsboro and back. During your Dillsboro layover you’ll find more than 50 shops, restaurants and more. Lunch is included onboard. Returning to Bryson City you’ll pass by the famous Movie set of The Fugitive starring Harrison Ford! After returning we will visit the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, considered a “model for museums.” Like the Cherokee people themselves, it is entirely unique. Tonight we will enjoy dinner together. Day 3: Breakfast will begin our day. We’ll depart for our return trip home. First we will stop in lovely Maggie Valley at the Wheels Through Time Transportation Musuem. This fascinating museum is home to the world’s premier collection of rare American motorcycles, memorabilia, and a distinct array of unique “one-off” American automobiles. Plan to arrive home early evening after a beautiful and entertaining autumn tour to lovely Cherokee and more. B
