On this two-day getaway we’ll look back through 300 years of American perseverance as a living reminder that anything is possible. These are remarkable destinations that bring American ideas and innovations to life.  A special treat of the tour will be an evening tour of the Ford House, estate of Edsel and Eleanor Ford.  Don’t miss the bus…bring along the entire family…everyone is sure to enjoy the history, the inspiration and America’s can-do spirit!

Day 1:   We’ll depart bright and early to begin a tour that takes us back in time to experience true Americana!  The first stop on our nostalgic journey will be the Henry Ford Museum.  This uniquely American museum highlights our nation’s growth when the inventions of a new age transformed pastoral America into a dynamic industrial society.  This evening we will tour the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House, a mansion located at 1100 Lake Shore Drive in Grosse Pointe Shores, northeast of Detroit, Michigan; it stands on the site known as "Gaukler Point", on the shore of Lake St. Clair. The house became the new residence of the Edsel and Eleanor Ford family in 1928. Edsel Ford was the son of Henry Ford and an executive at Ford Motor Company. The estate's buildings were designed by architect Albert Kahn, its gardens by renowned landscape designer Jens Jensen. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, and it was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2016. A special highlight will be a dining experience at the Ford House.  We will check into a local hotel after dinner.  D

Day 2:   After our included breakfast we depart for Greenfield Village.  Entering is like stepping into an 80-acre time machine.  It takes you back to the sights, sounds and sensations of America’s past.  A box lunch will be provided.   Enroute home we will visit the Bicycle Museum of America in New Bremen.  We will learn about the history of the bicycle and how it helped shape the American landscape through innovation and design.  The museum has over 200 bicycles on display with a total collection of 900!  Plan to arrive home this evening with wonderful memories and experiences to share with family and friend.
