The Commonwealth of Virginia is known as the “Birthplace of Presidents” as eight U.S. Presidents were born in the state.  This tour highlights several of the presidential homes, museums, birthplaces & memorials.  It also features delicious food in historic taverns and inns.  This is a must tour for anyone who enjoys grandeur & history!

Day 1:   Today we begin our Virginia adventure with a scenic drive to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain area and our destination of Charlottesville.  We will enjoy a very peaceful two night stay here.  Dinner will be included together this evening. D

Day 2:   We tour Monticello, home of Thomas Jefferson, 3rd U.S. President.  Jefferson lived at Monticello from 1770 until death.  You’ll be amazed at the “modern” inventions Jefferson built into his home as early as 1810! This afternoon we will enjoy a colonial-style lunch at historic Michie Tavern.  This afternoon we visit Highland, home of James Monroe, the 5th President of the U.S.  Monroe and his wife owned Ash Lawn-Highland from 1793 to 1826.  Later this afternoon we will enjoy a visit to Charlottesville and view the lovely campus of the University of Virginia, considered one of the most beautiful of its kind.  Dinner will be on your own this evening. B, L

Day 3:   This morning we depart for Montpelier, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and home of James Madison, the 4th President.  He was raised at Montpelier, lived here after his marriage to Dolley, returned here after his presidency and died here in his study. Next, we will travel to Mt. Vernon.  Here we will tour the restored house and farm of George Washington, built by his father in 1735, and inherited from his half brother in 1752.  George brought his bride here in 1759 and began his plan to become the leading scientific farmer in America.  We dine at the Mt. Vernon Inn Restaurant.  After our meal you will have time to shop in the elegant gift shop. Overnight this evening will be at an area hotel. B,D

Day 4:   This morning we will depart for our drive to yet another beautiful area of Virginia and the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library & Museum, exploring President Wilson’s life through seven galleries.  We also tour Wilson’s birthplace and the Presbyterian Manse.  We will overnight near Roanake, VA. A farewell dinner is included this evening. B,D

Day 5:   Today we travel home with wonderful memories of the Presidential Homes we have visited this week. B
