We hope you will join us this fall on our escape to CAPE COD. On this autumn adventure we will spend a day enjoying ROUTE 6A, the Old King’s Highway to Provincetown. Enjoy a dune tour excursion, the Pilgrim Monument and Museum, with time to browse the shops and eateries at the end of the Cape! We will travel to Plymouth, take a Lobster Tales Cruise, and see the world’s largest cranberry grower. We will spend a day on Martha’s Vineyard with a “Down Island” Tour. Don’t miss the bus for fall fun in Cape Cod!
Day 1: Depart early this morning for our overnight destination in Pennsylvania.
Day 2: Enjoy breakfast before we head to the Cape! This afternoon we will be welcomed to the sandy shores of Cape Cod. Extending some 70 miles into the sea, the Cape is home to both natural beauty and quaint colonial villages. Your local guide will meet you at the Bayside Resort for our three-night stay. Our dinner is included in tour this evening. B, D
Day 3 After breakfast we will meet our local guide and travel to Woods Hole. Home to the center of discovery of the HMS Titanic, the world-renowned Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and the national headquarters of the International Wildlife Coalition. Here we will board the motorcoach as passengers on the Steamship Authority ferry to the island of Martha’s Vineyard. Upon arrival our guide will conduct a “Down Island” Tour. We will learn about the history and lifestyles of the islanders as we pass through the picturesque villages. There will be free time for lunch in the historic whaling town of Edgartown. Complete your day on the island in Oak Bluffs strolling through “Cottage City” with its brightly painted cottages and decorative “gingerbread trim”. Depart the island at 5:00 pm. Our dinner is included this evening. B, D
Day 4: After breakfast, meet your local guide for a day of touring. Travel historic Route 6A, winding through centuries of Cape Cod history. Visit the Eastham Windmill, a Cape Cod Lighthouse, and the National Seashore Visitor’s Center. Sand dunes and the ocean surround you as you approach “Land’s End” – Provincetown. The pilgrims landed here first before deciding to settle in Plymouth. There will be free time for lunch and shopping on your own. This afternoon, admission is included on a one-hour DUNE TOUR excursion. Ride through the protected lands of the Cape Cod National Seashore, the largest protected coastline in the country. Your driver will point out the “dune shacks” where famous artists and writers became inspired to create their art. Your dune driver will drop you off at The Pilgrim Monument and Museum which commemorates the first landing of the Pilgrims in 1620. This 255-foot tower dominates the town and is the tallest granite structure in the United States. Dinner is included this evening. B, D
Day 5: Breakfast is included this morning before meeting your local guide and travelling to America’s Hometown – Plymouth. See such historical attractions as the Forefather’s Monument and Plymouth Rock. Enjoy a Lobster Tale Cruise and learn about the many sea creatures living in the Plymouth Harbor. This afternoon, travel to Wareham for a Cranberry Bog Tour by A.D. Makepeace, the world’s largest cranberry grower. Your bog guide will show you examples of an existing bog, currently in production, and will discuss the stages of the cranberry growing process. Travel back over the Cape Cod Canal into Sandwich, the oldest town on Cape Cod. This quaint and quiet seaside community is the hometown of Thornton Burgess, naturalist, and author of 170 children’s books. Dinner is included at the Historic Dan’l Webster Inn, where patrons have been dining for over 300 years. B, D
Day 6: Breakfast is included before departing for our overnight stay near Carlisle. B
Day 7: Following breakfast, depart for home with warm memories of an unforgettable time celebrating together in Cape Cod! B
