Day 1: We will depart bright and early this morning and travel to Syracuse, NY where we will overnight this evening.
Day 2: We’ll depart after breakfast for our drive to Stockbridge and visit the Norman Rockwell Museum where we will see many of the illustrator’s works in the original oil paintings at your leisure. There are gallery talks and a gift shop to explore. After our visit we will check into our hotel for our two-night stay. Dinner and local entertainment will be enjoyed this evening. B,D
Day 3: This morning after breakfast we will meet our local guide for a day of touring. On a driving tour of the Berkshire Cottages, you will hear stories about the characters and explore the era of the “Gilded Age”. The Berkshires are known as the Inland Newport and display mansions built during the turn of the century before the days of income tax. These estates, also called cottages, were the homes of Andrew Carnegie, Harley Proctor of Proctor and Gamble Co., George Westinghouse, the Vanderbilt’s, and many others who formed the American Aristocracy. See the exteriors of these fine homes. The Stockbridge tour promises to whet your appetite for further exploration of this “picture postcard” town. This is a light and informative tour with history, humor, and facts. We will visit the MOUNT, the home of Edith Wharton, the first woman to receive the Pulitzer Prize – for her work “The Age of Innocence”. A National Historic Landmark, The Mount will be decorated for the holidays. This afternoon we travel to the Yankee Candle Flagship Store where it’s always Christmastime at their Bavarian Christmas Village. The adventure continues in the Black Forest on to the Village Square past the waterfall beside the moat over the drawbridge to the Nutcracker Castle. After that you must visit Santa’s Toy Factory! Next, we see the Bright Nights Holiday Light Display set in Springfield’s historic 750-acre Forest Park, a perfect backdrop for the more than 500,000 twinkling lights. The two-and-a-half-mile drive turns us all into children again. Dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant. B, D
Day 4: We’ll depart after breakfast for Seneca Falls, NY and a special stop at the It’s a Wonderful Life Museum. Residents have long believed that Seneca Falls was the inspiration for Bedford Falls. This fascinating museum is dedicated to the movie and the personal collections that reflect the lives and careers of its stars as well as the timeless message of “It’s a Wonderful Life”. We will depart for our drive to the Buffalo area for our overnight stay. B
Day 5: This morning after breakfast we depart for home. Plan to arrive home this evening with memories of wonderful days spent at Norman Rockwell Christmas! B
