Let’s take a trip back in time to a slower-paced era when railroad travel was a way of life. Relive the romance of the rails when vintage trans provided an escape from the everyday routine. Don’t miss the bus for your chance to experience the sights and sounds of yesteryear!
Day 1: All Aboard for our Tennessee mountain adventure. We will arrive in Chattanooga this afternoon and take a ride on the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway – America’s most amazing mile! We’ll check into our hotel for a two-night stay before enjoying a local dinner together. D
Day 2: Our day will focus on River and Rails! The vintage cars of the Tennessee Valley Railroad take us over four bridges and through the pre-Civil War Missionary Ridge Tunnel. We will include a visit to the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum which will provide an interactive, historical experience which is so much more than entertainment. Today we will also visit Ruby Falls which drops 145 feet in a solid sheet of water. This evening we will relax and enjoy a delicious dinner before boarding the Southern Belle for a cruise along the Tennessee River. B, D
Day 3: This morning we will depart for the Smoky Mountain region. We will arrive in Bryson City and board the Great Smoky Mountain Railway for the Tuckasegee River Excursion. You are in for a relaxing ride through the quiet countryside on your way to small town life in western North Carolina. This four-hour excursion travels 32-miles roundtrip to Dillsboro and back. Returning to Bryson City you’ll pass by the famous movie set of The Fugitive starring Harrison Ford. This evening we will overnight near Asheville with an included dinner. B, D
Day 4: This morning we depart for our return trip home. First, we will stop for a delicious lunch at the Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant with time to browse their gift barn. Plan to arrive home early this evening with wonderful memories to share about you trip back to yesteryear! B, L
