Join us for a fun-filled getaway to the Amish country of Ohio…Sugarcreek, Walnut Creek and more. The quaint Alpine village of Sugarcreek is known as the gateway to Amish Country for good reason.  Amish families were some of the first to arrive in Sugarcreek, along with Swiss and German families.  The Swiss immigrants brought with them their cheese-making heritage and before long Sugarcreek became known as a Swiss cheese-making hub and downtown took on an Alpine-style appearance.  We will see the World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock and the Swiss Village Murals and visit the Yoder Family Amish Home to experience Amish History and Culture first-hand. The Ohio Star Theatre is always entertaining, and the new production, Dear Soldier Boy, will not disappoint!  Anna King wanted to help end a war…not start one!  You’ll love to see how that ends up for Anna and her soldier boy. If you are looking for a summer getaway packed full of great sightseeing, delicious food, fun entertainment, and lovely accommodations…look no further.

Day 1     We’ll depart for our drive to Ohio Amish Country.  Our first stop will be David Warther’s Carvings & Gift Shop.  David Warther II, a fifth-generation carver of Swiss heritage, is continuing his family’s carving legacy.  The carvings created by David depict the “History of the Ship” from 1st Dynasty Egypt to the present day.  Enjoy the over 75 major pieces in his collection and visit the Gift Shop before we depart for the hotel. Late afternoon we will check into the Carlisle Inn located in a serene, countryside setting with a view! Tonight, we will include a delicious dinner and then see “Dear Soldier Boy” at the Ohio Star Theatre. D

Day 2     After our included breakfast we will depart for downtown Sugarcreek, where the streets of this Swiss Village are dotted with Swiss style architecture and beautiful Swill murals. Swiss music floats through the air as you appreciate the six murals painted by local artist Tom Miller.  Featured on the cover of the Guinness Book of World Records in 1977, the World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock, located in the center of town.  The clock is over 23 feet tall and 24 feet wide.  Every half-hour, a cuckoo bird pops out and then you hear Swiss polka music playing as the band emerges and a couple dances.  Next, we will visit the Yoder Amish Home.  This guided tour will give you a history and you will better understand the culture of the Amish people. This afternoon, we stop at Walnut Creek Amish Flea Market for lunch on your own, and countless options for shopping, food, and fun! Then, it’s time to set our sights for home, anxious to tell our family about this perfect summer getaway! B
