The Blennerhassett Hotel opened its doors May 6, 1889 and has been serving guests with an unmatched style and elegance on the mainland in Parkersburg W.Va. since that time.  Blennerhassett Island is rich in history and is considered the Ohio River’s most famous island.  The island was settled by Harman and Margaret Blennerhassett, wealthy Irish aristocrats fleeing political persecution and scandal.  Over the years, the couple’s mansion gained a reputation for being the West’s most beautiful home. We’ll also visit Marietta, the Ohio Rivertown, for a great getaway to this historic and unique Ohio River Gem!

Day 1:   We will depart this morning for our scenic drive through the Ohio Valley and find ourselves in Marietta, located at the confluence of the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers.  We will enjoy a guided tour of this historic town with time for some shopping and lunch on our own.  Later this afternoon we will check into the lovely and historic Blennerhassett Hotel for our two-night stay. Tonight, we will include a delightful dinner cruise aboard the Valley Gem Sternwheeler. D

Day 2:   This morning we board our sternwheeler for a short cruise to beautiful Blennerhassett Island.  Here we will enjoy a guided tour at Blennerhassett Mansion and Museum! Aristocrats Harman and Margaret Blennerhassett built one of the most beautiful homes west of the Alleghenies in 1798.  We will also enjoy a boxed lunch and a horse drawn narrated wagon ride taking in Blennerhassett’s beauty.  We will return to the hotel this afternoon, relax and refresh, then enjoy a delicious dinner at the hotel.  BLD

Day 3:   After our included breakfast we begin our journey home.  We will enjoy an early lunch at the original Bob Evans Farm in Rio Grande We will make a final stop at Keim’s Family Market, an authentic Amish store in Southwest Ohio.
