Packed with natural beauty, charming small towns and great musical theatre, the Lehigh Valley Region of the Pocono Mountains is the perfect autumn getaway destination! Join us on this all-new tour to explore a beautiful area and enjoy exciting entertainment!
Day 1: Today we have an early departure as we travel to the lovely Lehigh Valley Region of the Poconos. This region offers 2,400 square miles of wooded peaks and valleys with numerous sparkling lakes, great shopping, and interesting historical tours. We will stop for dinner on your own before settling into our hotel, the Woodlands Inn, for our 4-night stay. Nestled in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains with a peaceful stream winding through, the Woodlands Inn is a boutique hotel with a full-service salon and spa, 2 restaurants, 3 bars, and the Evolution Nightclub.
Day 2: After our included breakfast, mid-morning we will venture to nearby Jim Thorpe, a Victorian town where we will step back in time and meet our guide for a city tour. With this town’s narrow streets and neat boutiques, you will believe you are in Europe! Next, it will be All-Aboard the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Train for a narrated round-trip through the majestic Lehigh River over bridges, through Glen Onoko, and into the Lehigh Gorge State Park. We will ride in style in a Vista-Class Dome Car and be amazed by the panoramic views of the Pennsylvania Mountains. Tonight, we will enjoy an included dinner together at the hotel. A shuttle service will be provided to the Mohegan Sun Casino Resort this evening. B, D
Day 3: After breakfast we begin a lovely day. For 40 miles the Middle Delaware River passes between low forested mountains with barely a house in sight. Then the river cuts through the mountain ridge to form the famed “Water Gap”. Our driving tour includes the Delaware Water Gap and Shawnee on the Delaware, discovering the spectacular beauty. The Water Gap has been designated as the “Eighth Scenic Wonder of the World”. Today we will also visit the Pocono Indian Museum, the only museum dedicated to showing the history of the Delaware Indian. This Museum traces the history of the Delawares through displays of ancient artifacts, weapons, and tools that form chronological commentary on life among the Indians for thousands of years. We will return to the hotel this afternoon and enjoy dinner together. B, D
Day 4: Enjoy a leisurely morning before we depart for Allentown and enjoy a delightful matinee performance with a delicious luncheon at the Pine Dinner Theatre. This theater is the Lehigh Valley’s most unique entertainment complex featuring fine dining and fantastic performances! We will return to the hotel this afternoon to relax and enjoy as you wish. Shuttle service will be provided to the Mohegan Sun this evening. B, L
Day 5: After an early breakfast we set our sights for home. Plan to arrive later this evening with wonderful stories to tell our family and friends about all we have seen and experienced in the Poconos! B
