Join us on this summer getaway where you will experience a wonderful cruise to two islands and great sightseeing along the way!
Day 1: We depart this morning and make our way north to Lake Erie country, and the lake town of Sandusky. Upon arrival, we will enjoy a fun visit to the Merry-Go-Round Museum and learn about the history and art of the carousel. The “oom -pa - pa” of the band organ, and the “painted ponies” on display will thrill and enchant you. Have your smiles ready as you relive your childhood excitement when you climb aboard the working “fully restored” Allan Herschell Carousel with the band organ playing. Dinner will be included this evening before checking into our hotel for a two-night stay. D
Day 2: After our included breakfast at the hotel we depart for a great day! Here’s a full day of fun and activities as we depart for a 40-mile “Island Hopping” Cruise aboard a 300-passenger cruise boat. From our ship we’ll be seeing Catawba, Marblehead Lighthouse, Lakeside, Middle Bass and other islands including Johnson’s Island – a Confederate prison camp during the Civil War. We’ll visit Kelley’s Island, only a few miles from the Canadian border, which is Lake Erie’s largest U.S. Territory and home of Glacial Grooves created when the glacier cut through this area as well as Inscription Rock. You’ll have time to enjoy Put-n -Bay, visit the 352 ft Perry Monument, see the impressive video “War of 1812 and the Battle of Lake Erie”, the wineries, and the ever-popular fudge and T-shirt shops. An included tram tour will be enjoyed on the Island. We will cruise back to the mainland and plan to arrive at approximately 6:30 pm. Enjoy the evening and dinner at your leisure. B
Day 3: Breakfast is included before check-out. A delightful farewell luncheon at Der Dutchman is included. Our final stop will be at Heritage Hall, home of the Wyandot Popcorn Museum, the world's largest collection of popcorn poppers and peanut roasters!
