Paducah becomes a Mecca for quilters each spring as nearly 35,000 international and domestic quilters attend the AQS Annual Quilt Show & Contest. In addition to the exhibits of the most exquisite quilts being created today, AQS hosts a variety of special events, a vendor mall with nearly 400 vendor booths and a series of workshops and lectures. More than 5,000 quilters participate in AQS workshops and classes conducted by world-renowned instructors each year. There is much to see and do on this “Quilters’ Tour” so sign up early and don’t miss the bus this spring.
Day 1: We will depart bright and early for our drive through the rolling hills of Kentucky before coming to rest near Paducah, for the next three nights. This afternoon we will enjoy a guided tour of Paducah. Dinner will be included this evening. D
Day 2: Wake up to breakfast included at the hotel this morning. Then we're off for a great day at the Quilt Show. Quilters across the world dream of having their work included in the AQS Quilt Contest in Paducah. Whether it’s the hope of earning $20,000 for the Janome Best of Show award or having their work added to the collection of The National Quilt Museum, the greatest prize a quilter can win is a ribbon at the Paducah show. Each year, the quality of artistry and workmanship in the competition quilts gets better and better. You won’t want to miss this year’s collection. This evening, we will include transportation to Harrah’s Casino Metropolis for those who want to participate. B
Day 3: Breakfast is included at the hotel before we depart for another day at the Quilt Show. This afternoon we will visit the National Quilt Museum which honors today’s quilters and inspires future quilters with exceptional exhibitions, education, and programming. Their vision is to be America’s premier quilt museum, celebrating innovative and extraordinary quilts from the United States and around the world. After an included dinner, we will drive to nearby Benton for a fun-filled evening at the Kentucky Opry! B, D
Day 4: Depart after an included breakfast. Enjoy browsing Hancock’s of Paducah, one of the top fabric stores in the United States, offering the world's largest retail selection of premium cotton fabrics. A special lunch will be included at the award-winning restaurant, Patti’s 1880’s Settlement in Grand Rivers, Kentucky. After lunch we will spend time shopping and browsing this beautiful settlement. We will return home this evening with fond memories of a great time spent together at the Paducah Quilt Festival. B, L
