Escape the hustle and bustle on this three-day journey to the peaceful, rolling hills of Northern Indiana’s Amish Country. We will spend two nights at the charming Essenhaus Inn and Conference Center in Middlebury, where warm hospitality and handcrafted Amish furnishings meet modern comfort. The centerpiece of this getaway is an exclusive afternoon at the renowned Blue Gate Theatre featuring a delicious family-style meal followed by a spectacular matinee performance by the legendary Daniel O’Donnell. From winding down scenic backroads, stopping at working cottage shops and pristine homesteads or indulging in delicious homemade goods, this tour is a perfect blend of world-class entertainment and rich cultural heritage. Day 1: Depart this morning and begin our journey north through Ohio and into Northern Indiana. Enjoy a lunch stop enroute before arriving at the sprawling Das Dutchman Essenhaus campus in Middlebury, Indiana. Before we check in, we will take time to browse the Village Shops – a collection of five restored buildings filled with quilts, home décor, and unique gifts. Don’t miss a stop at the famous onsite bakery to sample their signature pastries. Later this afternoon, we will check into the Essenhaus Inn for our two-night stay. Tonight, we’ll enjoy a family-style dinner at Indiana’s largest family restaurant, Das Dutchman Essenhaus. Enjoy the remainder of the evening as you wish. D
Day 2: Breakfast will be enjoyed at the hotel before departing for the day. We will welcome a local guide aboard our coach for an intimate, authentic tour of the area’s Amish Backroads. Travel down winding gravel roads past pristine white homesteads, working horse and buggy traffic, and beautiful seasonal Quilt Gardens. We will then arrive at the iconic Blue Gate Restaurant and Theatre. You will enjoy a traditional Amish country buffet lunch, followed by the spectacular Daniel O’Donnell matinee performance at the Blue Gate Theatre. O’Donnell captivates the room with his signature blend of Irish standards, country-folk ballads and engaging storytelling. After the show, enjoy leisure time exploring downtown retail favorites like the local cottage shops tucked along the main avenues. The remainder of the evening is yours to enjoy. B, L
Day 3: Following breakfast, we will enjoy a cultural deep-dive by visiting the Menno-Hof Interpretive Center. This multi-media museum offers interactive exhibits, historical dioramas, and a replica 17th century ship that perfectly frames the history, faith, and lifestyle of the Amish and Mennonite communities.
