Lakeside or bayside, inland lake or scenic shores, Door County is surrounded by beauty every way you turn.  But natural beauty is just the surface of what awaits! We’ll learn about the wild maritime history along with the mythical and dangerous reasons the passageway has earned its name.  Summer is the perfect season to enjoy the sights and sounds and landscapes of Door County. Don’t miss the bus and join us for this unique and fabulous tour to lovely Door County!

 

Day 1: We depart this morning ready to begin our journey to the north. Late afternoon we arrive in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and check in at our local hotel tonight. Dinner at a Milwaukee favorite will be included tonight! D

Day 2: Enjoy an included breakfast this morning before we head north to Algoma, Wisconsin and visit the Von Stiehl Winery, Wisconsin’s oldest licensed winery and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  We will include a winery tour and select tasting while enjoying Lake Michigan views!  We then travel to Sister Bay and check into our accommodation for our 3-night stay. Dinner will be on your own this evening. B

Day 3: Breakfast is included this morning before we begin another day of guided touring on the Mainland in Door County. Highlights of our day will include a visit to Anderson Dock, a warehouse on the water in Ephraim that’s one of the most photographed locations in Door County.  You will be able to “leave your mark” by writing on the building with acrylic paints. We will marvel at Eagle Tower and Eagle Bluff Lighthouse sitting above Green Bay’s waters.  We will then experience a “Taste of Door County” at the Farm Market.  Enjoy the beautiful bluffs and shorelines, and history of the little towns that make up this 'Cape Cod of the Midwest". Day 4:  This morning you will enjoy breakfast before embarking on our day.  First on the agenda, we will meet our tour guide and ferry to Washington Island. Learn the history of the island and its lighthouses. See the beautiful Norwegian Stave Chapel, patterned after the one in Borgund, Norway. We will also visit Schoolhouse Beach and the Door Peninsula Winery, Stavkirke Island, Historic Island Dairy and their Lavender fields. Stops will be made at Door County Candle and Door Country Coffee. Lunch is included on the island before returning later in the afternoon aboard the ferry.  Tonight’s dinner will be a famous Fish Boil.  Watch the boil over and enjoy the technique and cooking process of the Traditional Door County Fish Boil! Day 5: Breakfast is included this morning before departing. Get ready to say “cheese!” We will experience Renard’s Cheese and get a firsthand look at the art and science of cheesemaking.  We will continue south to Racine and visit the Wind Point Lighthouse. This lighthouse stands 108 feet tall and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  We will enjoy dinner together this evening.  B, D

Day 6: Breakfast is included before departing for home. We will arrive back home this evening with wonderful memories to share with family and friends about our visit to beautiful Door County in the summer and more. B
