Hannibal. Kansas City. St. Louis

July 26-30, 2026
Tour Number R5364

Let’s explore the “Show Me State” together on this delightful summer tour.  The Amtrak River Runner Train, Hannibal Riverboat, Arabia Steamboat Museum, National Museum of Transportation, and other attractions are sure to delight young and old alike.  Don’t miss the bus, the boat, or the train…sign up early because this one won’t last long!

Day 1:   We begin our tour to the “Show Me” State with our first destination of Hannibal, Missouri, located on the mighty Mississippi and home of the forever famous Mark Twain!  After checking into our hotel, we will enjoy a night of dinner and music on the Mark Twain Riverboat Cruise. D

Day 2:   Before departing Hannibal, we will spend an enjoyable morning visiting Mark Twain’s Boyhood home and museum and see the house of his sweetheart, Becky Thatcher.  After lunch on our own we will then continue to journey to Kansas City where we check into the lovely Drury Hotel for our two-night stay.  Relax and enjoy the hotel along with the Kick-Back Reception including both hot and cold food as well as beverages. B

Day 3:   After breakfast we will travel the short distance to Independence, Missouri and the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum.  “An Ordinary Man, His Extraordinary Journey”, Truman shouldered the burden of leadership in a rudderless world.  His library and museum expand appreciation of this Midwestern farm boy who never went to college, his remarkable rise and enduring character.  His story will help future generations come to understand both the possibilities and the responsibilities of American citizenship.  This afternoon we will visit The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, where history touches home.  The world’s only museum dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history of African American baseball and its impact on the social advancement of America.  Later this afternoon we will continue our steamboatin’ adventure as we visit the famous Arabia Steamboat Museum.  When the mighty Steamboat Arabia sank near Kansas City in 1856, she carried 200 tons of mystery cargo.  Lost for 132 years, its recovery in 1988 was like finding the King Tut’s Tomb of the Missouri River.  The treasures of the Steamboat Arabia will connect you to American history in a new and exciting way.  Tonight, we will enjoy some true Kansas City BBQ at one of the city’s most popular BBQ restaurants. B, D

Day 4:   All Aboard!  Today we will travel via Amtrak’s River Runner Train, traveling across the state of Missouri with lunch included along the way. Our motor coach will meet us at our journey’s end to carry us on our next adventure.  We will enjoy some free time and shopping at the antique shops, art galleries, winery gift shops, bookstores and more in charming Hermann, Missouri.  Our overnight will be in the St. Louis area at the Drury Hotel.  B, L

Day 5:   This morning, we will continue our adventure with a visit to The National Museum of Transportation!  The Museum’s rail and transit collections have grown to encompass more than 190 major exhibits.  The largest collection of transportation vehicles in the world is sure to move you!  Then, our relaxing visit to The Show Me State is ending.  Today we’ll travel home, anxious to share stories and memories of this delightful adventure with family and friends.
