Destin is a gem on Florida’s Emerald Coast, known for sugar-white beaches, emerald waters, fresh Gulf seafood, and warm hospitality. Once a small fishing village, it has grown into one of the state’s favorite coastal getaways while keeping its laid-back charm and natural beauty. This has been a requested destination… sign-up early and don’t miss the bus!
Day 1: We’ll depart this morning for a great getaway to one of the most beautiful areas of Florida. Our overnight will be at the Drury Inn Birmingham. Relax and enjoy the KickBack Reception.
Day 2: We will depart after breakfast for our morning drive to Montgomery, Alabama where we will visit the Hank Williams Museum. The Hank Williams Museum is not just a tourist stop; it’s a step back into the life of Country Music’s first superstar – Hank Williams. You will be captivated by the southern charm of the Museum and spellbound by the magic of Hank Williams! Hank’s music fills the museum and the artifacts of this tunesmith including his 1952 Baby Blue Cadillac will make you feel like Hank isn’t just a legend, but now a close friend! Hank Williams crowded a lot of living into twenty-nine years, and you will learn all about his life and the times he lived in. After lunch on our own in Montgomery, we will complete our journey to Florida’s Emerald Coast and arrive at the newly renovated Hampton Inn and Suites Destin where we will check in for our three-night stay. Our hotel is situated about a 3-to-5-minute walk from the public beach access and is near local spots such as Henderson Beach State Park and dining options along “Restaurant Row”. Amenities include a heated zero-entry saltwater outdoor pool and a 24-hour fitness center. Unpack, relax and enjoy your evening in Destin! B
Day 3: Today will include some great sightseeing in Destin. We will spend some time at Destin’s HarborWalk Village, a unique and exciting way to enjoy Destin. HarborWalk Village features a variety of retail stores, restaurants, etc. and you can explore as many as you like. Enjoy lunch on your own here. This afternoon, we will enjoy a Dolphin Cruise before returning to the hotel to refresh. Tonight we have included a delicious dinner at one of Destin’s many restaurants. B, D
Day 4: Today is yours to enjoy as you wish. After a hot breakfast buffet at the hotel, you may wish to relax on the patio or spend some time by the pool. For all beach lovers our hotel is only a 5-minute walk to the public beach access and Henderson Beach State Park is within walking distance as well. Walk along the white sand beach, take a dip in the ocean, read a book, take a nap, the day is yours to enjoy as you wish. We will depart this evening from the hotel to enjoy dinner together at another one of Destin’s many restaurants. B, D
Day 5: After breakfast, we will depart Destin to begin our trip north. Our overnight stay will be in Franklin, Tennessee at the lovely Drury Plaza Hotel. B
Day 6: After our included breakfast we will depart for Bon Aqua, Tennessee and the Hideaway Farm, a place steeped in authentic history. Johnny Cash owned this 107-acre property for 33 years, calling it “the center of my universe”. Here you will walk in Johnny’s footsteps, explore a place he deeply cherished, and experience history firsthand. Discover rare photos and personal items once owned by Johnny, June Carter Cash, and their dear friends Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley. You’ll be able to see the car Johnny made famous, “The One Piece at a Time” Cadillac. After our visit, we will be on our way homeward, planning to arrive this evening with wonderful memories of our “Discover Destin” tour. B
