A fan of delicious food, learning how things are made, and entertainment? This tour is for you! From ice cream to pretzels to chips to tractors…it’s all just fun in the making. Don’t miss the bus and join us for this delightful, educational tour!
Day 1: We set off for a fun adventure. Today we will travel to Lancaster, Pennsylvania and check into our hotel for a three-night stay.
Day 2: After breakfast, we depart for a full day of touring. Our first stop is the Turkey Hill Experience, named one of the 25 Best “Factory Tours” in America. The Turkey Hill Experience features interactive exhibits allowing you to learn about dairy culture, the story of Turkey Hill Dairy, and how the company’s ice cream and iced tea flavors are selected and created. You will truly experience what it is like to be a Turkey Hill Dairy ice cream maker for a day, including the opportunity to create your own virtual ice cream flavor. We will include lunch here before departing for another interesting stop…Julius Sturgis Pretzel Facility and Bakery. You will be given your own piece of flour and water mixture and taught how to twist a pretzel. The tour includes the original ovens built by Julius Sturgis and the history of pretzel baking in America. This evening, we have included a very special Farm to Table Experience at the Mount Hope Estate and Winery. First, we tour the wine production facility, complete with samples and a souvenir. Then, the Chef will source dinner from farms within 50 miles of the estate. The host will guide us through our meal in a gorgeous historic barn. B, L, D
Day 3: After breakfast, we depart for the Kreider Dairy Farm for an informative and delightful morning. Here you will experience the sights, sounds and smells of a real, working dairy farm. This tour features a high-tech view of farming, including a drive down the middle of the “Cow Palace” barn on a trolley and a bird’s eye view of the milking carousel where they milk 1700 cows, three times every day. This afternoon, we will travel to Nottingham and take the Herr’s Snack Factory Tour! You haven’t lived until you’ve tried a fresh Herr’s Potato Chip hot off the line during this fun and flavorful tour. We will stop by the Visitor’s Center to learn more about the process and the history of this family run facility. Return to the hotel this afternoon to refresh before our final evening of dining and entertainment at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre and “The Little Mermaid”! Curious young mermaid Ariel, falls in love with human Prince Eric and makes a deal with sea witch Ursula, trading her voice to become human. With help from her friends, Ariel must win Eric’s love before time runs out…songs include Under the Sea, Kiss the Girl, and Part of Your World. Return to the hotel after a wonderful and enchanting evening. B, D
Day 4: After breakfast we depart for home. Enjoy this final day’s journey full of snacks and fond memories about our foodies, factories, and fun tour! B
