Marvelous Memphis

  • Croswell Motorcoach Services 975 West Main Street Williamsburg, OH, 45176 USA (map)

We began our adventure with a visit to Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store & Casey Jones Village in Jackson, Tennessee.   We visited the Casey Jones Railroad Museum where we put on our headsets and traveled through time.  We enjoyed a delicious dinner inside the Old Country Store.  After dinner it was onto our hotel for a good night’s sleep.

We arrived in Memphis this following morning and enjoyed the Peabody Hotel to see the marching of the ducks. We had time to explore the Peabody and have lunch.

Then on to Graceland we went.  We had time to visit the Graceland Mansion and the many exhibits on the grounds.  We got to learn many things about Elvis’s life and the things he enjoyed.  Did you know he was a fan of motorcycles and golf carts?  When Elvis was in town the locals could see him riding in his golf carts or on his motorcycles.

Then on to our hotel for a two night stay.

Some chose to eat dinner at the hotel and take an optional trip to Beale Street for dinner.  Those who decided to go along enjoyed dinner on their own and a walk on Beale Street to see it all lit up.

On our third day we had a step on guide who has been a citizen of Memphis all her life.  She told us stories about her father playing music with a lot of famous musicians.  He even played with Elvis.  Her knowledge of the city was amazing.  She took us to Sun Studio and the Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum.  We had time today to explore Beale Street and have lunch there.

We ended our day with dinner at Marlowe’s Rib and Restaurant.  Elvis would eat here when he was in town.

We got up on the fourth day, enjoyed an included breakfast and made our way back home.
