Day 1: Depart this morning for historic Gettysburg ready to take part in the Gettysburg Culinary Battle. Upon arrival we will visit the Shriver House Museum and Saloon. Dedicated to the civilian experience during the Battle of Gettysburg, the Shriver House Museum appears much the way it did when it was built in 1860. Learn what life was like at the time as you tour the home and hear the harrowing story of the Shriver family’s experiences during the battle from a costumed guide. After the tour we will check into the Courtyard by Marriott. Dinner will be presented from The South. After the Battle of Gettysburg on July 4, 1863, General Robert E. Lee and his soldiers stopped to dine here. During dinner, “General & Mrs. Lee” will entertain you with stories from the 19th century and the Civil War.
Day 2: After our included breakfast we will visit the Eisenhower National Historic Site, home and farm of General and President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Located adjacent to the Gettysburg Battlefield, the farm served the President as a weekend retreat and a meeting place for world leaders. Lunch is included today at Hickory Bridge Farm. Dive into a delicious family-style lunch of chicken, biscuits, and baked ham with all the trimmings. During lunch we will visit with and enjoy stories by “Mamie Eisenhower” as she recalls her first meeting with Ike, the trials and tribulations of marriage, war, politics, the presidency and their life together in Gettysburg. After lunch we will visit the Hollabaugh Brothers Fruit, Farm and Market. A covered wagon ride along with an apple treat will be enjoyed. Our next stop will be the Adams County Winery for tour and tasting. Tonight, we will enjoy our dinner from the North with General and Mrs. Grant at the Dobbin House Tavern, the oldest building in Gettysburg.
Day 3: After our included breakfast we depart for Gettysburg National Military Park Visit Center to see the movie, Cyclorama and museum. Tour a civil war camp conducted by a civil war soldier in full battle dress. During this program you will experience a day in the life of a soldier. We’ll depart for home planning to arrive this evening with a most memorable historic and culinary tour experience!
