Don’t miss the bus and see why one of the best times to visit New England is in the good ole Summertime!

Day 1:  We’re on our way! Tonight we will check into our hotel near Rochester, NY.  We will enjoy dinner together as we get better acquainted with our fellow passengers. D

Day 2: This morning, we’ll head east through New York into the heart of Vermont's rural landscape.  The Green Mountains are a colorful backdrop to the sleepy little towns and neat farms throughout this region. We’ll arrive at our lodging in Killington/Rutland, Vermont area. Unpack and relax for a two-night stay at the North Star Lodge in Killington. A welcome reception & dinner are included this evening. B,D

Day 3:  A hearty continental breakfast is included.  Our guide will meet us for a full day of Vermont touring. We’ll start with a tour of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory to learn the manufacturing process and taste the delicious samples! A luncheon featuring Austrian pastries is included today at the Trapp Family Lodge,  a Mountain Resort in European tradition by the family that inspired “The Sound of Music”. We will be amazed by the rolling Green Mountains, beautiful bucolic views, and the Austrian architecture.  Stroll the grounds and visit the exquisite gift shop.  This afternoon there will be free time in Stowe Village.  Browse the shops of this charming village with its “most photographed” church steeple.  A photo stop will also be made at one of Vermont’s historic Covered Bridges.  Dinner is on your own this evening as your guide will offer suggestions.  B,L

Day 4:  Enjoy a hearty continental breakfast before we meet our local guide. Today we will travel to New Hampshire, “The Granite State”.  We will enjoy a photo stop at Quechee Gorge, Vermont’s “Little Grand Canyon” as we make our way to the White Mountains.  We will soar to the summit in the Loon Gondola.  Once at the top see artisans at work, climb the observation tower and enjoy panoramic views from the deck of the Summit Café.  Lunch is on your own at the top of the mountain.  We will visit Franconia Notch Visitor’s Center, where we will view exhibits and an orientation film on the park.  Next stop will be made at the Basin.  Stroll a paved path on a nature walk to view a solid granite bedrock “pothole”.  See how a beautiful waterfall of the Pemigewasset River has eroded this water-filled basin over the past 25,000 years.  The rock formation seen in the stream bed at the outlet has been known for generations as “The Old Man’s Foot”.  We will bid our local guide farewell and arrive at the Valley Inn in the Waterville Valley area for the next two-nights.  You will have time to browse the shops in “Town Square”, walk the village for breathtaking views of the mountains, or relax by the fireplace.  Dinner is included this evening followed by a showing of the movie, “On Golden Pond”.  B,D

Day 5:  A hearty continental breakfast is included.  A local guide will meet us at the lodge for another great day of touring.  We will travel to Squam Lake where “On Golden Pond” was filmed.  We will board a narrated boat cruise and hear the stories of the natural forces that created the lakes and the wildlife that make the lake so special.  Be on the lookout for Loons! This afternoon we visit the Moultonborouh Country Store, dating back to 1781 or visit the Loon Center to learn through videos and exhibits of their habitat and why they migrate to northern lakes.  Stroll a walking trail and visit the gift shop.  Later this afternoon we will climb aboard the Lake Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad and enjoy a casual New England Roast Turkey Dinner while riding along the shores of Lake Winnepesaukee.  We’ll return to our hotel this evening after a great day!  B,D

Day 6:  After a hearty included continental breakfast, we bid farewell to the Green Mountains and begin your journey homeward. Our overnight stay will be near Syracuse with an included dinner enjoyed on our final night together. B,D

Day 7:  It’s homeward bound and journey's end today. We arrive early this evening with many fond memories of our Sound of Music/On Golden Pond summertime tour to the beautiful mountains of New England! B
