Let’s explore the south bite by bite on this tour of small-town Americana featuring Laurel, Mississippi, the famous “Hometown” as seen on TV, along with the beautiful Gulf Coast of Mississippi and a real live Shrimp boating tour, and more!

Day 1:   We depart this morning and make our way South through Tennessee and Alabama before arriving in Tuscaloosa for our overnight stay. Dinner is included this evening. D

Day 2:   After breakfast we will depart for a short drive to Laurel, Mississippi, “Hometown” made famous by Ben and Erin Napier!  In Laurel we will enjoy lunch included at Café La Fleur, take a guided tour of this historic small town and stop at the now famous Laurel Mercantile for some shopping.  Later this afternoon we will make our way toward the Gulf Coast and Biloxi, Mississippi.  Once we arrive, we will check into our Biloxi area hotel and enjoy the hotel facilities and evening as we wish.  B, L

Day 3:   Today we will enjoy the best of the Gulf Coast as we meet our step-on-guide and take a 2-hour tour of the City of Biloxi.  We will see such sights as the Biloxi Lighthouse and the Biloxi Visitor’s Center Museum.  Next is a unique experience on the Biloxi Shrimping Trip, a 70-minute marine adventure Cruise. This unique and historical cruise will take you along the protected waters of the Gulf’s shoreline and show you all the creatures, including shrimp, which inhabit our coastal waters.  The Biloxi Shrimping trip exposes guests to the spectacular world of sea life caught on a real shrimping expedition. Our lunch included today will be more than just lunch!  Our group will dine at the historical and legendary Mary Mahoney’s Old French House while Bobby Mahoney entertains guests with stories from “them good ole days” on the Gulf Coast (along with a joke or two).  Also, don’t forget to check out the Patriarch Oak Tree, which is believed to be over 2,000 years old.  After a full-course delicious lunch we will visit the Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum with an array of exhibits, artifacts and an extraordinary collection of photographs which tell the story from the time of the first Indian settlement through generations of immigrants whose journey contributed to the melting-pot culture of the Gulf Coast. We will return to the hotel later this afternoon after a great “Gulf Coast Tour”.  Dinner will be on your own at your leisure.  B, L

Day 4:   We depart Biloxi this morning and start heading north, stopping at Priester’s Pecans for “a little flavor of the South”.  Priester’s is a family-owned company specializing in old-fashioned, farm fresh gifts like pecan desserts, candies and pecan pies!  Later this afternoon we will arrive in Birmingham and check into the Drury Inn for the night.  Enjoy the kick-back reception and time to relax and enjoy the evening.  B

Day 5:   We begin our way home after breakfast, arriving early this evening with all our memories of beautiful Laurel and the lovely Gulf Coast! B
