Don’t miss the bus to The Historic Hudson Valley and upstate New York’s Finest Fall Foliage!

Day 1:   Today we depart on our adventure to the picturesque Hudson Valley region of New York. We will come to rest today near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for our overnight stay.

Day 2:   This morning, we will visit the Pennsylvania State Capitol Building, one of the most beautiful of its kind in the United States.  After our visit we will set our sights for Sleepy Hollow, New York and our tour at Philipsburg Manor. We will experience “The Unsilent Picture” which reflects life during the 17th century.  Next, we check into our hotel for a two-night stay before dinner this evening. B, D

Day 3:   After breakfast we will depart for Lyndhurst, the majestic estate located on the banks of the magnificent Hudson River. Here you will experience firsthand an American icon of architecture and landscape. Visit all 6 floors of the mansion, from the observation deck to the basement kitchen. After lunch on our own we will arrive at Kykuit – The Rockefeller Estate.  A majestic paradise with sweeping river views, Kykuit was home to four generations of the Rockefeller family, beginning with the philanthropist John D. Rockefeller, founder of Standard Oil.  Later in the afternoon we will arrive at The Historical Society and Museum that collects, preserves, and celebrates the history of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow.  Then it’s on to The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze where you will witness an army of more than 7,000 glowing, intricately carved pumpkins shining along the riverside near Van Cortlandt Manor.  There are also “stargazing” opportunities inside the Pumpkin Planetarium, flying ghosts and a special appearance by Sleepy Hollow’s Headless Horseman.  Dinner will be included before returning to our hotel. B, D

Day 4:   We’ll check out after breakfast and arrive this morning at West Point Military Academy where we will enjoy a guided tour.  On a combined bus and walking tour we will learn the story of West Point, its role in the Revolution, its famous history along with stories about graduates who shaped our nation.  Stops include Main Cadet Chapel, West Point Cemetery, and Trophy Point, overlooking the Hudson River. Enjoy lunch on your own at the luxury Thayer Hotel on the grounds of West Point.  This afternoon we will arrive at Vanderbilt Mansion, historically known as Hyde Park, and one of the oldest Hudson River estates.  It provides a glimpse of estate life, the social stratification of the period, and the world of the American millionaire known as the Gilded Age.  Tonight, we will enjoy an evening together, including dinner. B, D

Day 5:   After our included breakfast we depart for FDR Presidential Library and Museum, America’s first presidential library and the only one used by a sitting president.  Enjoy lunch on your own at Uncle Sam’s Canteen.  Then we will take a guided tour of the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Springwood, the lifelong home of America’s only 4-term President.  After enjoying our tour, we will depart to begin our journey home.  We will stay overnight near Wilkes-Barre. B

Day 6:   We set our sights for home today, planning to arrive back early this evening with wonderful memories to tell our friends and family about our visit to the Hudson Valley. B
