Join us on this amazing two-day fall getaway. A perfect blend of wonderful things to see and experience in the beautiful Bluegrass State!
Day 1: Our adventure begins with our drive to Louisville this morning. We will enjoy lunch on our own before arriving at the genuine global icon on its hometown turf, Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory. The Museum celebrates the extraordinary role Louisville Slugger baseball bats have played in the sport’s past, present and future. From the forest to the field, you’ll follow the timber that’s turned into hard-hitting history. Everyone will receive a mini bat at the end of the tour. This afternoon we will check into the Drury Inn and enjoy the hotel’s famous Kick-Back reception which includes both hot and cold menu items as well as beverages. Tonight, we will depart for Iroquois Park and experience the one-of-a-kind Jack O’Lantern Spectacular*. See more than 5,000 spooky, artistically carved pumpkins illuminated along a winding trail through the majestic woods of Iroquois Park. We will return to the hotel after our “spooktacular experience”.
* Note: From the Amphitheatre entrance to the trail entrance, it is 1/3 of a mile. The trail is an additional 1/3 of a mile, which you can enjoy at your own pace. On average, the trail itself takes 35-45 minutes to complete.
Day 2: After we enjoy breakfast at the hotel we will depart for our behind-the-scenes distillery tour! The Kentucky Peerless Distillery has been restored and designed to be a state-of-the-art facility with cutting-edge technology, making it one of the most automated distilleries. Here we will experience how they craft fine bourbon and rye whiskey from grain to bottle along with a complete whisky tasting. After our tour we will include lunch at the Old Spaghetti Factory and then visit Butchertown Market, home to an impressive list of businesses and shops. Our last stop of the day will be at Schimpff’s Confectionery, one of the oldest, continuously operated, family-owned candy businesses in the United States. The Candy Museum and Candy Demonstration area offer a glimpse into the world of historic candy making, packaging and advertising. Schimpff’s is famous for its cinnamon Red Hots, hard candy fish and Modjeskas. But don’t miss the chocolate, caramel, and pecan confection! We will depart for home planning to arrive early evening after a great getaway of baseball, bourbon, pumpkin blaze and more! B, L
