On this delightful two-day winter getaway, join us for a unique visit to David Warther Carvings where the Carver himself serves as our guide. This is more than a museum tour and a meal. This is an evening of enjoyment with David and Maryruth as your hosts, where the ambiance of the evening will make it a memorable experience!
Day 1: We will depart this morning for our drive to Sugarcreek. Enroute we will stop in Newark for a visit to Heisey Glass Museum, the premier destination for all things related to the fine glassware made in America by A.H. Heisey & Co. The museum is housed in a beautiful old Newark home and includes a gift shop and more than 6,000 finished pieces of glass on display. After our visit, we will continue to Sugarcreek and check into our hotel for the night. After refreshing, we plan to arrive at David Warther Carvings for “An Evening with the Carver”. During this special evening David and his wife Maryruth are our hosts. The visit starts with a tour of the carving exhibit with Carver David as your guide. Halfway through the tour, we will enter additional museum exhibit rooms that have been set up for an elegant candlelit dinner with linens, soft music, and a delicious meal. After dinner, David opens with question-and-answer time. He tells a few interesting stories and then continues the tour. From his workshop, he shows his carving tools and techniques. The evening concludes with time for shopping in the gift shop where Warther knives and other locally made items are for sale. Return to the hotel after our evening. D
Day 2: This morning, we will drive a short distance to Kidron, Ohio and visit Lehman’s Store, voted “Best Destination in Amish Country”. This one-of-a-kind-store is dedicated to simple living. Much of it feels like a museum, with its collections and antiques. From practical, non-electric goods to timeless home and kitchen products, they offer quality items built to last. You don’t have to purchase a thing to enjoy exploring unique lifestyle collections or experiencing this charming store firsthand. Lehman’s provides something for everyone who enjoys learning about a simpler, more meaningful way of life. After our visit we will set our sights for home, planning to arrive late this afternoon after a delightful new experience we enjoyed together! B
