Day 1: Welcome aboard as we set our sights for the Pennsylvania Dutch country! We will arrive and check into the Bird in Hand Resort in Lancaster for our delightful three-night stay. Enjoy getting acquainted with the resort and evening at your leisure.
Day 2: After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we will depart for Wheatland, the beloved 1828 home of the 15th U.S. President, James Buchanan. With very few barriers in the estate, we will stand in the spaces once frequented by a former President and his family. Our visit will include a 24-minute orientation film, Buchanan’s America: A Nation Divided. Then after our guided tour of the estate, you will have access to museum exhibitions about Lancaster County’s history. You will enjoy lunch on your own and time to visit downtown Lancaster, famous for historic buildings, delicious dining, boutique shopping and more. Later this afternoon we will arrive at the Sight and Sound Theatre for the spectacular performance of “JONAH”. Jonah is a prophet and a man desperately trying to outrun his calling from God—a calling that leads straight to his enemy, Nineveh. After unchartered adventures lead him off a storm-tossed ship and into the belly of a giant fish, Jonah believes all hope is lost. But in the depths, will he learn how to receive grace and extend mercy, even toward those he opposed the most? Complete with magnificent sets, immersive special effects, and live animals, JONAH is a state-of-the-art theatrical experience for the whole family. Day 3: After breakfast we will enjoy a day of sightseeing in the heart of the Amish land. Our guide will show us the true “Amish Experience”. We will tour the Amish Farmlands, visit an Amish House and One-Room School, and enjoy the Amish Experience Theatre five-screen production of Jacob’s Choice. Lunch will be included today. After refreshing at the hotel, we will depart for the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater where we will enjoy a delicious buffet dinner and the hilarious and entertaining musical… “9 to 5”. Enjoy this high-spirited musical comedy about three overworked office women who turn the tables on their sexist boss and discover the power of friendship, laughter, and standing up for themselves – all set to Dolly Parton’s irresistible score!
