Day 1: We will depart this morning for our scenic drive through the Ohio Valley and find ourselves in Marietta, located at the confluence of the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers. We will include a guided tour of this historic town, then enjoy a delightful dinner cruise aboard the Valley Gem Sternwheeler. This evening, we will check into the lovely and historic Blennerhassett Hotel for our two-night stay. The Blennerhassett Hotel opened its doors on May 6, 1889, and has been serving guests with an unmatched style and elegance on the mainland in Parkersburg, West Virginia since that time. D
Day 2: This morning, we will board our sternwheeler for a short cruise to beautiful Blennerhassett Island. Here we will enjoy a guided tour of Blennerhassett Mansion and Museum! Aristocrats Harman and Margaret Blennerhassett built one of the most beautiful homes west of the Alleghenies in 1798. Over the years, the couple’s mansion gained a reputation for being the West’s most beautiful home. We will also enjoy a boxed lunch and a horse drawn wagon ride taking in Blennerhassett’s beauty. Blennerhasset Island is rich in history and is considered the Ohio River’s most famous island! We will return to the hotel this afternoon, relax and refresh, then enjoy a delicious dinner at the hotel. B, L, D
Day 3: After our included breakfast, we begin our journey home. We will set our sights for Huntington, WV, and the Heritage Farm Village and Museums. Experience the history of Appalachia and the struggle they endured to cross the mountains, build their own homes, raise their own food, and even make their own clothes and footwear. Our visit here will also include a delicious home-cooked lunch. Return home early evening relaxed and refreshed from our Historic River Cities Tour and more! B, L
