Join us and embark on a majestic journey through the heart of the Bluegrass region with a two-day tour celebrating regal history, aristocratic estates, and more.
Day 1: After a mid-morning departure, we will arrive in Lexington in time for lunch on our own. Our adventure begins along the hallowed grounds of Mill Ridge Farm, tracing the exact footsteps of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during her historic visits to Kentucky’s premier Thoroughbred country. Mill Ridge Farm is renowned for raising and selling first-class Thoroughbreds. Owner Hal Price Headley was the main force in the founding of Keeneland, and the first President of what is considered one of the greatest racetracks in the world. If you want to touch a horse, are enthusiastic about carrots and want a well-rounded horse farm tour in a breathtaking setting, you are sure to love our visit to Mill Ridge Farms! This afternoon, we’ll check into our hotel before enjoying an included dinner and an evening of live entertainment at WoodSongs! Experience a celebration of grassroots music and the talented artists who bring it to life! D
Day 2: After breakfast, we will depart for Kentucky Castle. What began as an unfinished dream is now a thriving symbol of Kentucky’s beauty and creativity. Upon arrival we will take a castle tour to hear the full story! We will learn about the history, architecture, and transformation of this unique estate. This is a great way to experience the charm and story behind one of Kentucky’s most iconic landmarks. Our luncheon will be served within the Castle. We’ll include a stop at the Mary Todd Lincoln House in downtown Lexington where we tour the girlhood home of the former first lady, explore the museum store, and small garden. Our final sightseeing stop will be Ashland, the opulent estate of statesman Henry Clay, known as the “Great Compromiser.” This tour takes us through both floors of the 18-room mansion, offering a fascinating look at Clay’s personal life and the four generations of his descendants who called Ashland home. Finally, we depart for home anxious to tell our friends and family about our “Royal” getaway! B, L
