Springtime in New England

If you would like to see Vermont and New Hampshire in the summertime this trip is for you!

When we were all on the bus we headed north to Cleveland.  We went east from Cleveland along Lake Erie into Pennsylvania, then into New York.  Our overnight stay was in Syracuse, New York.

After breakfast at the hotel, we set our sights for Vermont.  We arrived at our hotel early afternoon.  We rested then headed to dinner at Noel’s.  We got a very nice meal here. This is now the Franklin Conference Center.  This building was once a place where all kinds of scales were made.  There were several on display along with an old Post Office. It made for a very interesting dinner and evening.

After breakfast we met our local guide who took us to Cold Hollow Cider.  Here we enjoyed a cider donut and a glass of cider. Then she took us through the country side to the Van Trapp Lodge for lunch.  What a view we had from here! We had time for lunch and a walk around the grounds. Then it was back on the bus and down the mountain to Stowe Village.  Here we had time to visit the shops and browse this delightful village. On our way back to the hotel we stopped for sandwiches that our step on guide ordered for us.

After breakfast we met our local guide who took us to New Hampshire.  We stopped at a lovely, covered bridge for pictures in Woodstock, Vermont.  Then we made a stop at Quechee Gorge known as the little grand canyon of Vermont. As we made our way to the White Mountains of New Hampshire a stop was made to visit Franconia Notch Visitors Center.  Here we got to see a movie about The Old Man on the Mountain.  We made our way to The Basin which was a short hike back to the water fall at the Basin.  Then we traveled to the Loon Gondola ride up the hill side.  What a view we had at the top.  Our dinner, enjoyed by all, was at the Woodstock Inn Brewery.  We stayed at our hotel in Bow, New Hampshire.

After breakfast the following morning we again met a local guide.  We traveled to Squam Lake for a boat ride to hunt for Loons.  This is where On Golden Pond was filmed. We were fortunate to see several loons during our very nice boat ride.

After our boat ride we went into the city of Meredith where we had time to shop and eat lunch.  After lunch we headed to the Loon Center to see a movie on the Loons.  The Moultenboro Country Store was our next stop.  Our dinner tonight was on the Lake Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad.  We had a nice dinner while traveling along Lake Winnipesaukee.

On our sixth day after breakfast, we headed back to Syracuse, New York.  Our last dinner together was at Theodore’s Restaurant.  A great meal to share our last night together.

We had a great time and it was very interesting.  These two states have so many interesting things to see.

Our seventh day was our travel day to arrive back home.  This tour is highly recommended!
