Day 1: We’ll depart this morning and set our sights for the lovely Hocking Hills area. Located about nine miles from Hocking Hills, Ravenwood Castle was designed to resemble castles built in the 12th and 13th centuries on the border between England and Wales. We will enjoy a tour of this medieval-themed hotel and then enjoy an included lunch at nearby Millstone Restaurant. After lunch we will depart for Marietta where we visit The Castle. Built in 1855 on top of a hill In Marietta’s Historic District, the castle’s octagonal tower, stone capped spires, and trefoil attic window make it a great example of Gothic Revival architecture. After checking into our area hotel we will enjoy an included dinner in this historic Ohio River town.

Day 2: After breakfast we depart and set our sights for Columbus. We’ll see Schwartz Castle, a quirky Columbus landmark located in the German Village neighborhood. Now an apartment building, the legend goes that Schwartz built secret passageways through the house, five stories of basement, drank only rainwater, and sunbathed nude on the tower roof. We will enjoy an included lunch in German Village then set our sights for our final stop at the Piatt Castles, snuggly located in the lovely countryside of Logan County. Two Gothic castles, called Mac-A-Cheek and Mac-O-Chee were built in the 1860’s by two Piatt brothers who grew up in the area. The castles have become a private museum that celebrates 200 years of Ohio history. After our visit we will set our sights for home. Plan to arrive early evening. B,L
