Day 1: All aboard for our journey to Helen, GA, home of the largest Oktoberfest celebration in the Southeast. Helen is a re-creation of an alpine village complete with cobblestone alleys and old-world towers. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Chatahoochee River, this Northeast Georgia village has more than 200 specialty and import shops. In addition to shopping, the restaurants of Helen reflect the Old-World fare. From bratwurst to burgers, there is something for everyone. Enjoy this Bavarian atmosphere and have dinner on your own before we check into our area hotel for the next two nights.
Day 2: After breakfast, we’ll visit the Old Sautee Store, one of Georgia’s longest-operating country stores, where stepping inside feels like traveling back in time. Enjoy browsing the unique treasures and local finds before returning to Helen. Spend some time exploring Helen at your leisure, strolling its charming streets and discovering the nooks and crannies of this picturesque Bavarian village. Tonight, we’ll join the festivities at the Festhalle, where delicious food, lively music, and entertainment await! B, D
Day 3: Breakfast is included before we depart for the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. It all starts at the historic, 100-year-old depot. The view is spectacular as we travel through one of the most beautiful places in the South. The train stops in the unique, twin border towns of McCaysville, GA and Copperhill, TN. You’ll have time to grab a bite to eat in one of the town’s restaurants and do a bit of shopping. Then it’s back to Blue Ridge on the train.
